Hello

Welcome to It Takes a Village! I’m Kendyll Hulyk, a passionate and experienced early childhood educator with a decade of experience, two master’s degrees, and a deep commitment to nurturing young minds. From a young age, I knew teaching was my calling, and over the years, I’ve embraced a holistic approach to education that blends academic rigor with the freedom for children to explore, create, and grow.

My philosophy centers on fostering each child’s individuality through play-based, interest-led learning. I’ve worked with children across various age groups, including infants, preschoolers, and elementary students, focusing on differentiated instruction, creative problem-solving, and developing the whole child. At It Takes a Village, I aim to build a community of engaged learners, support families, and create a warm, welcoming space where children can thrive.

With experience in Montessori, Waldorf, and Reggio Emilia approaches, I emphasize hands-on learning, individualized attention, and fostering a deep love of learning. My classroom is a place where every child is seen as capable and competent, and where curiosity is encouraged daily. Together, we’ll create an enriching and supportive foundation for your child’s development.

My Story

Teaching has been my passion for as long as I can remember. After spending several years as a public school teacher, working with children from preschool through 6th grade, I witnessed firsthand the positive impact individualized learning and creative, hands-on experiences can have on young minds. While I enjoyed my time teaching in public schools, I became increasingly aware of the challenges children face in larger classrooms and rigid educational systems. I knew there was a better way to nurture their development.

That’s why I decided to branch out and create It Takes a Village. I believe every child deserves to learn in a loving, safe, and supportive environment where they can flourish without the limitations of standardized curriculums or overcrowded classrooms. Here, I focus on small class sizes, personalized attention, and fostering curiosity through play-based, interest-led learning. My goal is to provide children with the space and freedom to grow at their own pace, in an environment that celebrates their individuality.

My Education & Experience

With over a decade of experience in working with children, I hold a bachelor's and two master’s degrees, far exceeding the basic requirements for in-home childcare providers, which often only require a high school diploma. My journey began with a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and my PK-6th teaching licensure, and since then, I’ve taught in various settings, including preschool, kindergarten, 2nd grade, 5th grade, and 6th grade, as well as working with children with special needs and gifted students. During my time in public schools, I honed my skills in differentiated instruction, play-based learning, and individualized education. I’ve also led school-wide initiatives, written and received grants, and worked closely with families to support every child’s growth. Now, I bring this extensive knowledge and passion to It Takes a Village, setting my program apart by offering a higher level of expertise and care for young learners.

Get To Know Me

I’m Kendyll Hulyk, a fourth-generation teacher with a deep-rooted passion for guiding young minds. Born and raised in Colorado, I’ve always felt that teaching is in my DNA, and I’m thrilled to be continuing that tradition with It Takes a Village. When I’m not teaching, you’ll likely find me on the golf course, out camping or rafting or diving into a crafting project I discovered on Pinterest. My two cats, Bodhi and Benson, are my world, and I love cozy nights at home with a good book—I read 66 last year (not including picture books because that number would be insane)! I’m a homebody at heart, and I treasure quiet evenings spent with family and friends playing games or just relaxing with popcorn and a movie. I can’t wait to welcome your children into my warm, creative, and nurturing home where they can learn and grow.
